Hejnice

Picturesque little town Hejnice, in German Haindorf, is situated on the tripoint on the Czech side of Jizera Mountains and it is the Catholic Marian pilgrim place. Its origin dates back to the 14th century. In 1692, there was founded a Franciscan monastery.

           


Pilgrim church of the Visitation

Baroque pilgrim church of the Visitation built in 1729 attracts thousands of visitors to the region yearly. Statuette of Mother of God (also called Mater Formosa) from the beginning of the 14th century made in Gothic style is an important artwork of Mariology.
