Jemielnica, in German Himmelwitz, is stretched in the middle of woods, ponds and rivers, surrounded by many historical landmarks. The first documentary reference to the town comes from 1225 which makes it one of the oldest towns in Opole Silesia. Cistercian church in Jemielnica was founded by Bolko I of Opole in 1283.
