Mariazell, situated in Northern part of Upper Styria, is thanks to a statuette of Magna Mater Austriae (Great Mother of Austria), placed in basilica of the Birth of Virgin Mary from 14th century, the most important pilgrimage place in Austria and significant pilgrimage place for many Catholics from Eastern countries.
